Welcome Zachary!
Our little man arrived right on time, on his due date - September 27th! I went into labor at about 2:00 am, not really sure if I was in labor or not. I was induced with Peyton so I wasn't completely sure. After wavering whether or not to call Greg's mom in the morning I finally decided he should call her to watch Peyton at about 7:00. We went over to the hospital around 9:00, and sure enough I was in labor. But not so much that I went straight to the birthing suites. I wasn't progressing very quickly so we ended up having to walk for about 31/2 hours around the hospital. Luckily it was a nice day so Greg and I were at least able to be outside. Labor and delivery was completely empty that day so thankfully they didn't send me home to progress there. Things finally really started moving around 2pm (I know this because the Bronco game had just started :-)). At 8:50pm Zachary Malcolm arrived, weighing 6 pounds, 5 ounces and 19 inches long. I really thought he was going to be bigger than Peyton but he's just a little peanut!

Peyton's 1st Bronco Game - August 2009

I know, what a sad face!! Okay, so we decided to take Peyton to her first Bronco game, it was preseason so we decided to give it a try. We got her all dressed up in her Bronco cheerleading outfit (which she adores) and she was so excited to go. Well, it just happened to be the loudest preseason game I've ever been to since they were playing the Bears (all you Bears fans should send your thanks) and Jay Cutler was back in town. Peyton isn't a huge fan of noise and we didn't stay long - she's definitely not ready yet. We should have gotten a picture of us before the game started because this is how it all turned out - unfortunately I think we Bronco fans will be making this face many times this year...
August 2009
My first nap in my BIG GIRL bed. For about a week we just read books in it to get used to it but today was the big day - nap time!
This is my friend Lucas, he came to hang out with me and mommy so his mommy, Heidi, could go to a talk. His mommy and my mommy were once roommates in college. I did surprisingly well with a littler one at home playing with my stuff. I think this encourages mommy a little bit for when my baby brother arrives...

Snow to play in - FINALLY - March 2009
Well we finally got some snow worth playing in - after winter. It seemed like anytime we had a good snow all winter that it was on a Monday when we went to work and Peyton was in daycare so we never got to play in it. I was really beginning to regret the snowpants purchase! Well as it turns out, Peyton wasn't a huge fan of the snow - mainly due to her mittens coming off or not being able to grab things with them on.

Peyton turns TWO!! - March 2009
Nani and Papa got Peyton a new stroller for her baby doll that she loves!
Nani also made a new outfit for Peyton's baby doll. Nani's a pro at making baby doll clothes!
This time we learned to not give such a big piece of cake!

Peyton's 3rd birthday cake over at Nani and Papa's house - my favorite - angel food cake with divinity icing and strawberries :-)
Here's my second cake that at Grandma and Grandpa's house. We celebrated Peyton and Greg's birthday - unfortunately Peyton won't eat chocolate - I really wish I didn't like chocolate!!
Peyton was very happy to dive into her strawberry cake. Peyton doesn't like chocolate so I made her a strawberry cake with divinity icing, I figured she would like it. We didn't count on how much she would like it. Greg cut Peyton a HUGE slice of cake. She had the WHOLE thing, we were amazed at how much she ate. We didn't think about what might happen if she ate the entire huge piece of cake. Well, we found out at about 2 am the next day when it all came up all over the bed. I guess we learned a lesson that day!!

March Madness - 2009
Peyton LOVES to wear her Jayhawks outfit to cheer on Mommy's team!! This was before the big dance started but she wore her outfit for every game during the tournament - we were very bummed that it ended up only being three, but there's always next year. Missy's friend Patrick, from her KU days, and his wife sent this out for Peyton when she was born and she's been just waiting for it to fit! ROCK CHALK JAYHAWK!!
Februrary 2009 - The month of no pictures
Can you believe it - no pictures this month. This is the first month that we haven't taken any pictures of Peyton. I feel a little guilty. But since I (Missy) am usually the one busting out the camera - as you may be able to tell by my lack of appearances in the pictures themselves - I do have an excuse. On January 21st I found out that I am pregnant with #2!! Of course as it always happens, this was right after having dinner at a friend's house and drinking way too much wine...
Then I got really sick and got bronchitis, and once that was over I got to go back to feeling like I was pregnant - yay (*sarcasm*). February was pretty awful for me. When I look back at how I felt with Peyton - that was nothing!! Throughout this month (and the next one as well) I was just trying to get through everyday. I got sick many times (did not happen before), completely lost my taste for things I usually like (also did not happen before) - I mean I couldn't drink water for goodness sakes! Certain smells made me cringe - ANYTHING cooking in the oven, smoke (as usual just really amplified), perfumes, etc. It was awful!
My poor husband got practically no acknowlegment of his birthday this month (the 19th). I definitely have to make it up to him one of these days...
